UNIVERSAL DESIGN OF LEARNING

We have watched a video of this and it has been very interesting to us.
The first thing that I have learnt with this is that everybody has a different form of learning and we should meet this diversity (designed).
The point where it is focused is to achieve minimize the barriers and maximize the learning of all students.
I have understood that the principles of this are: Strengths, needs and interest. With these three “bases” the universal learning is achieved.
In the video I have seen that there are three primary brain networks come into play:
-RECOGNITION, MULTIPLE REPRESENTATION: (The “what” of learning)-Present information and content in different ways.

-STRATEGIC, MULTIPLE ACTIONS AND EXPRESSION: (The “how” of learning)-Differentiate the ways students can express what they know.

-AFFECTIVE, MULTIPLE ENGAGEMENT: (The “way” of learning)-Stimulate interest and motivation of learning.

ENGAGEMENT: Let students learn form their mistakes.

I have noted that the design of learning has to have goals, methods, materials and assessments. To take away the barriers there are multiple ways: Representation, Engagement, Action and Expression. To support all students including students with disabilities to successfully engage with the Common Core, educators can apply the UDL framework to Common Core-
